BOARDS & BASES

Thermal Boards and shower bases

Thermal Construction Boards, often referred to as tile-backer boards are manufactured from high density extruded polystyrene. The rigid insulating core is coated with a specially formulated reinforced cementitious coating that provides a hard wearing robust surface perfect for the application of tiles/plaster and synthetic render.

The foam core has excellent thermal insulation properties whilst also providing high compressive strength with very low weight. The cement based coating also gives the product excellent impact resistance, ensuring that the boards stand up to the rigour of the site environment.

Thermal boards are essential when fitting electric underfloor heating and make the underfloor heating system far more effective and efficient. The boards are resistant to water making them ideal for use in areas subject to prolong and/or permanent water immersion.

Thermal board wet room Shower Trays are manufactured from high density extruded polystyrene. The rigid insulating core is coated with a specially formulated reinforced cementitious coating that provides a hard wearing robust surface perfect for the application of tiles. The trays have inbuilt falls to the drain location. The drain assembly on the standard trays incorporate an easily removable hair trap and provide a 50mm water seal. They include a stainless steel grate which can be raised to the height of your desired tiles. The trays are totally compatible with electrical underfloor heating allowing you to install heating right into your ‘wet zone’ giving that extra touch of comfort

Floors in bathrooms and shower areas will get wet. On unprotected timber floors this can create problems if the grout fails or cracks, as this can lead to tiles lifting if water seeps through to the timber floor causing it to swell and warp. The thermal board eliminates this problem by allowing you to create a fully waterproofed floor.
